A man from Blackburn has been arrested on suspicion of assault and sexual assault.
Detectives are asking anybody who saw a distressed woman walking along Preston New Road near Mellor Brook at around 3.45pm on Wednesday (June 5) to come forward.
The woman was holding a suitcase and was walking towards Preston, in the vicinity of Samlesbury Hall.
A 41-year-old man from Blackburn has been arrested as part of the investigation.
