A woman has been arrested after stealing a car from her mum despite being disqualified from driving.
Officers stopped this Mercedes Benz ML350 on School Lane in Guide on Thursday (July 6) for a quick document check.
The driver tried to give the police her mother's details but following a search on their database, they found that the woman was disqualified from driving - she had an expired provisional licence with 42 points on it.
She was also not covered by any insurance, and had taken the car from her mother without her permission.
The driver was arrested and the vehicle seized.
A spokesperson for the police said: "Last ditch effort from HO41 before end of shift - Mercedes ML350 stopped on School Lane at Guide for a document check.
"The driver tried giving details of her mother (fail), which only highlighted that she is a disqualified driver (expired provisional with 42 points), not covered by any insurance, and… stole the car from her mother without permission.
"Driver arrested and in the cells awaiting interview, and vehicle seized."
