Beer connoisseur and passionate pub campaigner, Mark gives us his decision on the tastiest beer he has sampled in the last seven days.
This weeks beer highlight came courtesy of a most innovative, go-ahead and modern craft brewer, Turning Point Brew Company .
The North Yorkshire brewery based in Knaresborough, has gained an excellent reputation since it rolled out its first craft beer in 2017.
Their Cryo-hopped Pale Ale, Time Of The Season(5.2%), was always going to be a top contender for the most enjoyable beer of the week, after identifying Cryo on the pump clip: hops designed to guarantee intense aroma and flavour.
It presented itself foggy golden in colour. The aroma being certainly intense, as I expected. Peach, lemon-citrus, passion fruit and some piney notes were all identified.
There was a sublime flavour explosion of more juicy, peach, passion fruit and lemon-citrus on the palate. Some floral, subtle spice, pine and soft, caramel malt sweetness were also tasted; in this beautifully balanced, Simcoe and Loral Cryo hopped beer.
More tropical fruit, lemon-citrus and a hint of spicy warmth, in the crisp and long, drying finish.
An absolutely stunning, thirst-quenching, deep-flavoured American style pale ale. Moreish in the extreme. A beer in exceptional condition at The Boat House Bar in Skipton.
