A MAJOR national car dealer is to upgrade its logistics depot in East Lancashire.
Arnold Clark has revealed proposals to refurbish its Accrington Transport Hub in Henry Street, Church.
It has submitted a planning application for the changes to the compound to Hyndburn Council.
It has asked for approval for the construction of motor trade building containing servicing bays, a DeGould automatic vehicle assessment system and wash Carapax.
It is also seeking permission for the existing building to be updated with Arnold Clark branding through a repaint of existing cladding and updated glazing to the front of house area.
The remaining site area will continue to be a car compound.
A supporting statement submitted to the council says: "This full planning application is for the refurbishment of existing building and new stand alone vehicle assessment building.
"The site is located on Henry Street just off of Hyndburn Road approximately 1.4 kilometres from Accrington town centre.
"The site is currently used by Arnold Clark as a transport and logistics centre with a large compound and small staff facilities building.
"The proposed scheme retains the existing site entrance from Henry Street and features nine customer parking spaces, 16 awaiting prep bays, nine valet waiting spaces and a compound with 257 bays.
"The proposal uses the existing motor trade building as well as an additional valeting building with a degould system to assess vehicles, and two wash bays to the west.
"The proposal is for an inspection building for Arnold Clark to include valeting and mechanical bays and a car washing facility.
"The proposal includes small alterations to the existing office/customer building to Arnold Clark branding.
"The canopy features a degould system used to take photos for vehicle inspection.
"Customers for click and collect pickup can access the entrance from Henry Street.
"HGV / Car transporters can use the entrance on Henry Street and existing unloading area.
"The existing building will be refurbished to allow for a better office and customer area, separating drivers and customers.
"The valeting building (east of the main building) consists of a valeting workshop featuring bays for mechanical and valeting services.
"The building features a large canopy so that the car can stay protected in between each stage of the valeting process.
"The wash bays are housed under a separate carapax west of the main building.
"The existing building is to be repainted to Arnold Clark branding.
"New Arnold Clark signage will also be introduced, along with new glazing/door elements to the customer front of house area."
