A Blackburn charity joined forces with a school to organise a major clean up of their area.
Aid 4 Ummah and pupils from Audley Junior school came together to clean the roads around Pringle Street.
A spokesperson for Audley based Aid 4 Ummah said: “This litter picking project was very close to home as the children live around the area and so it was important for them to give back to the community and keep the area tidy.
"They did a wonderful job with smiles on their faces.
“We have completed a few projects together this year and hope to carry on doing much more - I would like to say a big thank you to the staff and students at Audley Junior school and Blackburn with Darwen council for all their help.”
Audley and Queen’s Park Councillor Salim Sidat, who also helped to organise the litter pick, said: "The children had a fantastic time litter picking.
"They were fully engaged in helping to keep our local area tidy and were astonished by the amount of litter we managed to collect in a few hours.
“A big thank you to Mohamed and Fakir from Aid 4 Ummah who came to support us and Blackburn with Darwen Council who kindly sent us all the equipment we needed.
"We can't wait to go out and do it again."
