Traffic on the M6 is at a standstill after a milk tanker crashed over the central reservation.
Police have closed the M6 between junctions 31 and 32 in both directions after the crash.
Traffic updates website INRIX states a milk tanker flipped over the central reservation at around 6.30am this morning (July 2).
Traffic is at a complete standstill and there are severe delays as a result of the crash.
Police are advising drivers to find an alternative route to avoid delays.
A spokesperson for the police said: “Please be aware that the M6 motorway is currently closed between junctions 31 and 32 in both directions following a Road Traffic Collision. Please find an alternative route where possible.
“Many thanks for your patience.”
INRIX states: “Road closed and stationary traffic due to crash, a milk tanker involved on M6 both ways between J32 M55 (Broughton Interchange) and J31 A59 Preston New Road (Samlesbury).
“Tanker has gone over the central reservation. Trapped traffic on the SB carriageway.
“Severe delays of 17 minutes on M6 Northbound between J30 M61 and J31A B6242 Bluebell Way (Longridge). Average speed five mph.”
