A teenager from Blackburn performed at Glastonbury Festival at the weekend and he said it was an experience he will never forget.
Jacob Reddy, 18, played two sets to crowds at the festival, which took place from Wednesday, June 21 to Sunday June 25.
Jacob was one of the first acts to perform at the festival, when he opened the Croissant Neuf stage on Wednesday.
He said: “It was amazing and it was absolutely insane to shout ‘hello Glastonbury’ and hear people cheering back.
“My second set was on Friday, by which time Glastonbury was in full swing.”
Jacob played two 30 minute sets of original songs, including his newest songs ‘What Living’s For’ and ‘Wear The Crown’.
According to Jacob, Glastonbury was unlike any other festival he has ever been to.
He said: “One of my favourite memories was the first day, when I arrived at what was basically Glastonbury ghost town.
“I arrived before everything officially opened to the public so I was able to wander around the whole site before anyone else arrived.
“It was surreal to have the iconic Pyramid Stage, and pretty much the entire festival area, all to myself then, and only a few days later to be among 200,000 people and watching some of the biggest acts on the planet.”
Jacob hopes he has gained a few new fans after the performances.
He said: “I certainly had lots of people speak to me after my gigs, including quite a few from the north west who had spotted that I was playing and had come to watch.
“I even had a couple from [another news organisation] streaming my set. I’ve also spotted quite a lot of Glastonbury playlists on Spotify with my songs on, which is just crazy.”
Jacob said he will never forget the experience and hopes he will be invited back to perform another year.
He said: “I’ll never forget anything about the whole week.
“It already feels so surreal that I was part of the biggest music festival in the country.
“Not just the performing and the location, which were unbelievable, but also the amount of walking I did, which was around 30,000 steps per day.”
Jacob, who finishes music college this week, has some gigs lines up in the coming weeks as well as a new song coming out.
He is performing at the Confessional Festival in Blackburn on September 11. He has also been invited to play at an upcoming Leigh Leopards rugby league match, both pre-match and at half-time.
His new song, What Living’s For, is out now and available to stream on Spotify and other music streaming platform.
