A teenage girl has died after being found 'unresponsive' in Darwen.

Police were called to Wood Street as 11.30am today (June 29) to reports of a sudden death.

Emergency services found a teenage girl, who was 'unresponsive'.

She was taken to hospital where she died. Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is set to be passed to the coroner.

Police say their thoughts are with the girl’s loved ones.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called to Wood Street, Darwen, at 11.33am.

“Emergency services have attended and found a teenage girl unresponsive.

“She was taken to hospital where she sadly died. Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this distressing time.

“Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed onto HM Coroner in due course.”
