Residents at a care home in Oswaldtwistle are to receive a special visit this weekend as part of Care Home Open Week 2023.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Hyndburn, Terry and Jean Hurn, will visit residents at White Ash Brook on Saturday, July 1.

The much-anticipated event aims to celebrate the core spirit of community while also recognising the invaluable contribution of care homes to society.

Care Home Open Week 2023 is a nationwide event run by Championing Social Care from June 26-July 2 and seeks to shed light on the positive aspects of care homes and promote bonds within communities.

On the day there will be live music from Paul Scholey and guests will also have the chance to plant their own individual flowerpots, which will be housed in the new community garden at White Ash Brook.

Sarah Salvin, manager at the care home, said: “The whole team here at White Ash Brook is looking forward to the coffee and cake afternoon and engaging with the residents, friends, families, and new faces from our local community.

“Our event is based on the importance of building strong community ties and we’re privileged to be able to host the mayor and mayoress too.”

The free community event is open to everybody. It will take place at the home in Thwaites Road, Oswaldtwistle, from 1.30pm to 3pm.
