Two firefighters in Bacup have officially opened a new lounge bar and cafe in their home town.

The Station Brew opened on Market Street on Sunday, June 25, and is owned by firefighters David Loney and Aaron Goult.

It is hoped that the café, restaurant and bar, will have something for everyone in the community to enjoy.

Manager, Sammi Woodrup, said the team has had a successful opening week, already attracting regular customers.

The 23-year-old, from Bacup, said: “It has been great. We have had a fair few customers coming in and checking it out.

“We have had a fair few compliments on the building itself too, compared to how it used to look.”

The team has spent months refurbishing the former Street Food Kitchen site, with the aim of giving it a relaxing and comfortable aesthetic.

Sammi said: “We have changed everything. We completely ripped everything out and changed it.

“Customers say it looks amazing, saying it looks so clean and fresh.”

The business currently has a basic menu, with breakfast, paninis, toasties and more on the menu.

Pizzas are currently the most popular item on the menu.

You can wash the food down with a coffee or an alcoholic beverage.

Sammi said Bacup is in need of a business like this.

She said: “We have had the business for six months but we started making plans around a year ago.

“A lot of customer say Bacup is in need of a business like this, we have already had some regular customers.

“The building speaks for itself, so come down and give us a try.”

Bacup-born David said: “It’s not just a coffee shop, a restaurant or bar.

"It is a ‘Jack of all trades’ and we want it to be a relaxing place people in the town can visit if they don’t want to stay at home.

“People don’t want to just sit in pubs, they want somewhere with a more relaxed atmosphere.

“We wanted to open a place where people can start off drinking coffee and having a chat with a friend.

“Then they can move onto wine later on if they feel like it.”
