A celebrity baker from Rawtenstall, who has starred in a hit Netflix and Channel 4 baking series, has teamed up with Harvester for its 40th birthday celebrations.

Molly Robbins, known for creating hyper-realistic cakes on Extreme Cake Makers, has recreated four of the restaurant chain’s most popular dishes entirely out of cake, including: Dirty burger, Jammie Dodger sundae,  berry and banana pancakes and rotisserie chicken.

She also baked a sweeter rendition of Harvester’s sweet tomato and herb salad dressing, the Red Devil sauce bottle.

For the next five weeks, starting today Harvester is giving the public the chance to guess which is cake and which is the real Harvester item via polls on its Instagram.

The Red Devil sauce bottle and rotisserie chicken have already been posted, perplexing some customers.

A spokesperson for Harvester said: “With the illusion cakes being so freakishly similar to Harvester’s family favourite dishes, it had colleagues perplexed wondering, which was the real dish, revealing the true mastery of Molly’s baking which took her a staggering three days to bake.”

David Hoyland, Operations Director at Harvester, said: “Cakes are synonymous with birthdays, so what better way to celebrate our big 40th than by recreating our most well-loved dishes as mouth-watering illusion cakes.

“We’ve been welcoming guests for 40 years, delighting them with delicious, chargrilled ribs and rotisserie chicken, the iconic unlimited salad bar, and sundaes, and we are very grateful to Molly for her hard work in helping us celebrate. Here’s to the next 40 years!”

Molly said: “Despite the dishes being tricky to recreate, especially the pancake stack, it was a thoroughly joyful experience to play a part in Harvester’s 40th birthday celebrations.

"Thank you to the team for this opportunity and for letting me be involved!”

In addition to birthday cakes, Harvester recently announced the return of its classic Lemon Blizzard sundae for its 40th birthday.

Following an ‘online battle of the sundaes’ on the restaurant’s social media channels, the citrus dessert took the birthday crown and is available on menus for a limited time only.

This means Harvester fans can take a trip down memory lane by enjoying real dairy ice cream swirled with zingy Sicilian lemon sauce, crunchy meringue pieces and topped with fluffy cream and a meringue shell.

Molly. who is the daughter of actor and comedian Ted Robbins, best known for portraying Den Perry in Phoenix Nights, opened her first cake shop, Molly’s, in Rawtenstall last year.

The Bank Street shop itself is hard to miss with pink and purple signage and a giant animal themed birthday cake in the window.

As well as custom cakes, seasonal cupcakes and character cakes, the shop sells a range of range of other interesting items such as baking kits.
