FOLLOWING on from his barnstorming headline performance at Glastonbury on Sunday night, we wondered how many Looking Back readers were in the crowd when Elton John played a concert in Blackburn.
It was in June 2017 when the legendary singer/songwriter brought his band to Ewood Park, home of Blackburn Rovers and put on a fabulous two-hour show packed with hits.
The concert was not long after terror attacks in Manchester and London which meant that concertgoers were met with sniffer dogs and armed police as security was heightened.
But that didn’t spoil the enjoyment of a masterclass from the performer who had previously visited Ewood Park in his role as chairman of Watford when the two clubs had played each other.
Heavy showers which had been a constant feature in the build-up to the event disappeared as show time approached and the sun came out as Elton sat down at his piano for a show which was greeted with roars of approval from fans in the stands and on the pitch.
