New benches have been positioned outside a church overlooking Clitheroe’s ‘Castle Park’ grounds.

The benches at Trinity Methodist Church are dedicated to 'relaxation, meditation and prayer' and aim to support mental health and wellbeing.

The church held a competition for members to suggest meaningful wording to be written on the benches.

The winner was Sheila Tattersall who had her submission, 'Sit a while and reflect on God’s beauty' chosen.

Founded in 1868, the Trinity Methodist Church successfully achieved ‘A Rocha Eco Church Award’ in April 2022.

The award focussed the church’s attention on a number of projects to help address health and social inequalities arising from the climate crisis.

The church has also been working with the charity ‘Toilet Twinning’ to twin their toilets with ones in counties like Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo and Malawi.

The project enables disadvantaged families to have access to toilets, clean water and learn about hygiene.
