A Lancashire restaurant has won an award at the Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards 2023.
The winners were announced on Monday, June 12 at a ceremony held at The Hurlingham Club in London.
The Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards is the restaurant’s annual countdown of the top 100 restaurants in the UK as voted for by the UK’s leading chefs, restaurateurs and food writers.
Moor Hall in Aughton has been named the best restaurant in England for the second year running.
The restaurant also came second in the best restaurant in the UK category behind Wales’ Ynyshir which was named the winner for the second year running.
Moor Hall retains title of best restaurant in England
Estrella Damm describes the restaurant as “impressive” and “ambitious”.
It adds: “At Moor Hall the food really does the talking. The ambitious restaurant is tasting menu only, offering four and eight courses although guests can expect rather more than this in reality, such is the restaurant’s generosity when it comes to ‘extras’.
“An evening meal starts at the bar with a charcuterie selection before moving to the high-ceilinged room for the main event. It’s impressive stuff from a chef at the top of his game, one that marks Moor Hall out as a true Lancashire gem.”
The restaurant is also praised on Tripadvisor with a 5-star rating from 655 reviews.
One reviewer wrote: “The 4-course tasting menu was superb from start to finish. The staff were very attentive from the moment we stepped through the door. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit today, and we will return.”

Estrella Damm said: “Hearty regional and global food cooked with individuality is the hallmark of this Lancashire pub that takes its food and drink very seriously.
“Chef-patron Stosie Madi has grown Parkers Arms to dizzying heights with the help of her business partner Kathy Smith.
“As anyone that has ever met her will attest, Madi is a force of nature and between plucking game and making pies is an outspoken ambassador for high quality pub food.”

It was ranked in 68th place and praised for its “dishes full of exact and harmonious flavours”.
Estrella Damm added: “Part of the Stafford Collection, this charming country house hotel and restaurant in the heart of Lancashire’s Ribble Valley delivers fine dining with true Northern hospitality.”
