The owners of a new 'boutique' hotel in the town centre are hoping to entice more people to visit Blackburn.
The Hotel Royal is based in Simmons Street, close to the newly opened Saffron Street Restaurant and Toro’s Steak House, in the heart of the town centre.
The rooms, which start at £65 per night, are described as ‘luxury en suite’ and come with tea and coffee facilities, smart TVs and free wi-fi.
The hotel is the latest step in the regeneration of the area around King William Street, Northgate, and Blakey Moor, which has seen a host of new businesses open up in recent months and is set for major investment.
Waqas Mirza, who has launched the venture, said: “It is a small and quaint hotel.
“It will be the first small boutique hotel we are opening. We are also working on some nearby properties.
"There is a demand for it in the area as more and more people are visiting the town.
“It is competitively priced compared to some of the bigger hotels around."
The rooms have recently been renovated and the hotel is listed on Booking.com
More than £30,000 was spent renovating the rooms ahead of the launch in June.
The entrance to the hotel is off Simmons Street but the address is listed as Preston New Road.
Waqas said: “We have staff who can do a normal check-in and there is also virtual check-in where people can send in their details ahead of time.
“Some new restaurants and dessert parlours which has recently opened close by.
“There is a lot of development coming to this side of Blackburn and we feel this is just another positive for the town.
“More people are travelling to the town for short-term stays and the demand is growing for this type of hotel.”
The building was previously used for accommodation in the past and was formerly the offices of Duffin’s Estate Agents.
There are also plans to open a café on the ground floor to further the offering at the location.
