Police have been granted extra powers to ban people from a part of Rossendale after officers received intelligence that a fight was being planned.
This is the second "dispersal order" to come into force in the Stacksteads area over fears of a pre-arranged fight.
The order has been authorised from 2.30pm today to 11.59pm tomorrow (Sunday, June 11), incorporating a larger area than the previous order based on the information received.
The order means uniformed officers are able to direct a person to leave the area outlined in the map if they suspect their presence has or is likely to contribute to either:
- members of the public in the locality being harassed, alarmed, or distressed
- the occurrence in the locality of crime or disorder
Failure to comply with the request without a reasonable excuse is a criminal offence.
A dispersal order was in place just to the west of this one on Thursday (June 8) following reports of anti-social behaviour involving youths on Wednesday night (June 7).
