A new pet boutique business is opening next week and the owner hopes it will be a boost to the local economy.
Leanne Cawtherley, 37, is preparing for the ‘Grand Pawpening’ of her new business, Fetch Pet Boutique, located in Warner Street, Accrington.
Fetch Pet Boutique, opening on Friday, June 16, will stock a range of handmade clothing, toys, accessories and organic treats for dogs and pets as well as having its own bakery.
Leanne runs The Sweetest Thing Cakery bake shop, located on the same street, so will be baking goods to sell in her new pet boutique.
Speaking on why she decided to open a second business, Leanne said: “I’m a massive dog fan and spend a lot of time in Lilly’s Dog Grooming across the road and became good friends with the owner there.
“There was a space above his shop going to waste so one day, I thought ‘lets just do it’ because there isn’t an independent boutique for pets round here, so we’ve gone into business together and we’ve spent the last few months transforming the site.”
Leanne has come up with some creative and fun ideas for the shop which include dog birthday cakes, treat boxes, and even a ‘PAWto booth’ on site to take photos with your beloved pets.
Hoping to boost business in Accrington, Leanne has been collaborating with other local and independent owners in the town.
She said: “As someone who has a small business, I’m constantly advocating how important it is to shop and support local, it’s always been a big thing for me.
“Things are so hard at the moment so where I can, I will always go to a smaller business over the mainstream.
“I got in touch with a local artist who does illustrations of dogs and she was over the moon to be featured in the shop.
“Accrington has suffered a lot, it isn’t the town it used to be so any new business that can be brought to Warner Street is a great thing.
“I’m always up against a battle with online shopping. It’s hard opening a new business, especially right in the middle of a recession so any support is appreciated.”
The grand opening of Fetch Pet Boutique will have special offers and freebies to take advantage of and is taking place on June 16 and 17 from 10am to 5pm.
