A pride event is coming back for a second year to paint a town centre rainbow.

Blackburn Pride will be bringing a sea of colour to venues and the streets on June 17.

The town hosted its first pride event last year on June 18 and it was very popular with dozens of people taking part in a short parade before an afternoon of entertainment.

Chair of Blackburn Pride Committee, Cllr Jim Shorrock said: “It is with great pleasure that I chair the Blackburn Pride Committee for the second year running.

“I wish to place on record mine and the committees thanks to all those who joined us for our very first, and successful, Blackburn Pride event last year.

“The committee are working very hard in ensuring Blackburn Pride 2023 builds on our inaugural success, to ensure this year lives up to the precedent we have set.”

The event will start at noon on King William Street and a parade will take place around the town centre before an afternoon of entertainment outside the town hall, ending at 6pm.
