A pod of dolphins have been spotted diving in and out of the water on the Lancashire coast.
A video, taken Emma Lemon, shows several dolphins swimming in the water, near the Wyre Light lighthouse in Fleetwood, at the weekend.
Emma said: “They seemed to be heading towards the wind farms.
“I was on my boyfriend’s fishing boat Orion FD10. We also had a seal following the boat all day too.”
Since posting the video dozens of people have left a comment.
One person said: “Wow that’s fantastic.”
“The sea looks like the Mediterranean, it’s so blue,” said another.
It is not the first time dolphins have been spotted on the Lancashire coast. Last summer the animals were spotted less than a mile from North Pier in Blackpool.
The Irish Sea off the Lancashire coast is home to several species of the dolphin family, including the common dolphin, bottlenose dolphin, and Risso's dolphin.
If you wanted to spot a dolphin for yourself, a beach patrol manager has issued some tips and advice.
They said:
- Weather is key - warm and sunny climate
- Steady, calm tides are ideal
- June, particularly the first few weeks, is the most likely time they’ll be spotted.
