This set of photographs record a night when Blackburn’s Peppermint Place nightclub hosted a heat of the Miss UK beauty pageant.
A Telegraph photographer was given behind the scenes access to capture what it was like for the contestants taking part in the heat in July 1993.
They are very much of their time and provide an interesting social record highlighting how times have changed.
The club was packed for the heat which saw the would-be beauty queens parade in front of the judges in both eveningwear and swimwear, clearly much to the delight of some members of the audience.
Do you remember beauty pageants at ‘Peps’? Perhaps you even took part. Get in touch.
