A couple who have been in charge of a town centre pub for more than four years are set to step down.

Andy and Karen Joss are handing over tenure of the Rock Box in Blackburn after four and a half years of being in charge.

They have said that is in part due to ongoing medical issues.

In a statement, Andy said: “We would like to thank all of our lovely loyal customers who have been with us through the good times and the very testing times for your unending generosity and support, without you guys it would have ended much sooner.

“We have had an absolute blast running a little bit of rock n'roll in the heart of our town and created a place that we would want to spend our nights out in and hope that you all feel the same.”

The pub, in King William Street, will be taken over by Dylan Mitchell.

Andy added: “We couldn't think of a better person to pass the place on to and we hope you will give him the same loyal support and as many good memories as you have given us.”

Dylan said: “Karen and Andy you've done an absolutely fabulous job opening and running such a great little bar, I couldn't ask for a better place for my first solo venture.

“Really looking forward to keeping that place rockin'.”

Andy said there will be an upcoming leaving party for the regulars which he will announce in due course.

One regular said: “Just want to say what an amazing job you have done and thank you for keeping on despite the difficulties Blackburn has faced.

“We so respect that you gave those of us still wanting to go out a home where we always found a warm welcome.”

Another added: “Much love to you both, I hope things do get better.

“The Rock Box continues to be in good hands going forward. We'll see you all soon.”
