A teenager has been charged after officers found a police style baton on him during a search.

The 14-year-old has been bailed to attend to Preston Youth Court in June. The incident was one of several officers dealt with in the city during the evening.

Police were later called to the Mcdonalds on Friargate where a group of juveniles were causing a disturbance. One person had been pointing a BB gun at restaurant staff.

Preston police posted: "We found the young man and he was handcuffed and made to apologise to the staff members before being taken back to his home address and spoken to in front of his parents accordingly .

"Later in the evening, we assisted our colleagues on Response with a report of a knife point robbery in the St Georges area of Preston.

"The swift response from all resulted in two males being arrested and escorted to Preston Custody awaiting interview and further investigation "Do you know where your children are when they are out and about? Are they carrying weapons?

"This is not acceptable and we are committed to targeting and disrupting those responsible by taking weapons off our streets.

"We would urge parents to try and keep an eye on their children and to try and know where they are, if you have any concerns about your children engaging in criminality then you can report it to us below."
