A new bar opened in a Lancashire town over the weekend which will be the brand’s fourth in the county.

Marvin’s bar in Blackpool had its grand opening on the evening of Friday, May 26 with many partygoers sharing their excitement over the seaside town gaining a popular bar.

Owner Alex Huckerby converted the former Co-operative Bank on Clifton Street, Blackpool into a bar after his planning application was approved by the council this year.

Similar to existing Marvin’s bars in Lytham, Poulton and South Shore, the venue offers a night of jazz and music that’s good for the soul.

The Marvin’s website states the bars are “all about music and entertainment” with soul and Motown being a “true heritage to the brand”.

The new Blackpool branch operates a 21-door policy. The bar is open from 3pm till 2am seven days a week with a free karaoke booth on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Marvin’s Blackpool is accepting Karaoke bookings online with dates available from their launch night last Friday.

Residents shared their excitement over the launch with many eager to attend the venue as much as possible.

One woman called Eve wrote: “Going to skint myself but catch me in there every night of the week!”

Tazmin, another woman said: “Motown and northern soul 70s disco… definitely visiting Marvin’s next weekend when I’m down for the weekend. Looks awesome.”

The Marvin's bar chain was set up by Alex with partners Adrian Reed and Graham Barr.

The first Marvin’s bar on the Fylde coast opened on Breck Road in Poulton in 2018 followed by a second bar on Lytham’s Henry Street in 2019.
