More than 40 students from Blackburn College students packed their overnight bags and made their way to Blackpool for a huge sleepover.
On May 17, a charity sleepover was held at Madame Tussauds in Blackpool in aid of the mental health charity, Rise and Shine.
The early years students chose the charity after feeling motivated and passionate about raising awareness of suicide prevention and mental health.
Tutor Julie Hall organised the charity event and hailed the sleepover as a huge success. She said: “This activity has provided the students with opportunities which surpassed their expectations. For some, this was their first experience of visiting the attraction.
“They have shown commitment, kindness and resilience all throughout. They were very much involved in the planning of the sleepover which allowed them to extend their horizons and develop invaluable skills.
“Life skills and coping mechanisms are so important to be able to prepare for their chosen career paths.
“This opportunity allowed the learners to put theory into practice as they train to nurture and provide opportunities for young children in the future.”
Another tutor said: “The no sleep was worth all the laughs, the getting each other through, the support, kindness shown, learning things about each other and best of all the smiles on the students faces and knowing that for so many of them that it was the best thing they have ever done.”
