A new shop is opening in Clitheroe this week and cake pick and mix, loaded doughnuts and speciality sandwiches are on the menu.

Studio Bakery is to open its first shop, The Bake House, on Thursday, June 1, at the industrial unit on Lincoln Way.

It is hoped the shop, which will be managed by Adam Halliday, will become a hotspot for workers on a lunch break, or simply those who want to enjoy a sweet and decadent treat.

Head of commercial operations at Studio Bakery, Abby Talbot, said she is looking forward to getting started.

She said: “We make delicious cake and we want everyone who is local to be able to come and get cake and food to go.

“We hope it will be a place where people can come and support a local business and get a warm doughnut, fresh coffee and maybe a sandwich at lunch time.”

Far from your conventional shop, this site has cake ‘pick and mix’ on the menu. Here, sweet-toothed customers can fill a jar up with their favourite bakes.

Abby said: “Our pick and mix stand will contain all of our delicious traybake bites including tiffin, millionaire's shortbread, rocky road and flapjack.

“Pick and choose your favourites to fill this adorable jar that you can reuse and even bring back to refill for a discount.”

Doughnuts will also be for sale and according to Abby, they haven’t skimped on the fillings.

She said: “We will also be selling doughnuts which are incredible and loaded with toppings, including Oreo, Biscoff, and more. They’re delicious.”

Savoury options are also available and a variety of sandwiches will be made fresh each day.

As well as your standard flavours, such as ham and cheese, staff will make fish finger with scampi fries, streaky bacon and jalapenos flavour and more.

Business founder, Allison Metcalf, is the brains behind the recipe ideas.

It is hoped that customers can try out new recipes in the shop before they are potentially sold in Booths and Waitrose stores.

Abby said: “The shop is an outlet for Alison to come up with new and exciting recipes, put them out into the world and get some feedback.

“The ingredients make our bakes and food stand out. Everything we do is decadent and delicious.

“We do really small batches of food to make sure they are really high quality.”

Studio Bakery started in an outbuilding in founder Allison Metcalf’s back garden six years ago.

Now, the family-run business has 35 staff members and has dreams of expanding even further.

Abby said: “From a business that started in a back garden, there are now three generations of us, 35 staff and we are about to open a shop – we hope it is the first shop of many.

“We just hope the local people come and find us in the industrial estate and treat themselves to cake.

“It’s something different for us and a new venture but we hope that local people will come and support us.”
