More than 2,000 school pupils have been invited to take part in a ‘food from around the world’ competition.
Amazing Accrington, organisers of the Accrington Food and Culture Festival 2023, have invited Hyndburn primary school children to take part in a competition as part of the cultural festival, which takes place on Saturday, June 3.
Competition forms have been delivered to year two and year three children from 36 Hyndburn primary schools, with the students now being challenged to draw their favourite food from around the world as part of the festival which is being sponsored by Hyndburn Council, North Lancs Training Group, The Cardboard Box Company and Financial Affairs.
Amazing Accrington visited Accrington Peel Park Primary School and Hyndburn Park Primary School to launch the competition with children asked to think about different foods and cultures from around the world before drawing their favourite cuisine.
Entries into the competition must be posted in the special competition letterbox, which has been installed inside Accrington Market Hall, by 3pm on Friday, June 2.
The incredible designs will then be displayed on the day of the festival for members of the public to view.
Chair of Amazing Accrington, Murray Dawson, said: "A big part of the 2023 festival is culture and what better way to put culture and food together, than getting youngsters from across the borough to start thinking about different foods from around the world and then drawing them.
"We have already seen some fantastic entries into our competition, and we can't wait to see them displayed in the Market Hall on Saturday, June 3."
The Accrington Food and Culture Festival 2023 will feature a number of free activities for all the family including a main stage with live cooking demonstrations, a war-renactment and a Spitfire flypast.
