A mountain rescue team helped get a man to paramedics after he fell while out on a walk.

Yesterday (May 19) at about 4.40pm, Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team was called to help a man who had fallen whilst out walking along the Rossendale Way on Cowpe Lowe.

The team were helped by a passer-by who was able to promptly take one of our paramedics to the scene.

A short time after, the teams Hilux also made its way to the casualty’s location along with further team members who had walked up with the stretcher.

After an assessment and further pain relief, the man was helped into the team’s vehicle to be taken down the hill and handed over to the ambulance service.

A spokesperson for the mountain rescue team said: “Thank you to the local farmers and land owners who assisted and to the gentleman’s friends as well as the informant who called this in for them too.

“The Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team is a fully voluntary organisation which responds to those in need in our local community.

“The teams' volunteers are on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and we rely entirely on donations from members of the public to carry out this essential life-saving rescue service.”
