For Looking Back regulars, photos of the ‘lost’ pubs of East Lancashire are often the most popular.
This picture was taken in October 1962 and shows the Three Pigeons on the corner of Oakenhurst Road and Montague Street.
The pub was built as part of a new housing development which sprung up in the area. It is noticeable for having a separate off-sales entrance. The pub closed in August 2001 after being deemed ‘uneconomic’ by owners Pubmaster.
Regulars went out with a bang - literally -as a fireworks party was held on its last night and drinks were just £1.
