A Hyndburn councillor has bemoaned the time taken for a fly tipped site near a countryside restaurant to be dealt with.
Images posted in the Real Rishton First Facebook group show large piles of rubbish at the side of the Spice Lounge restaurant on the road between Rishton and Wilpshire.
It’s unclear currently who is responsible for the fly tipping.
Noordad Aziz, Labour & Co-operative councillor for Netherton ward in Hyndburn, feels the fly tipping has ruined what is a beautiful area and was a sad way to greet people driving into the town.
He said: “It’s quite picturesque up there with very beautiful scenery, and what we’ve got is an eyesore at the site which seems to have accumulated without being cleared.
“We’re trying to make the area look tidy, bring a feel good factor to it so people are proud of where they come from.
"But instances like this put a dampener on it. We need to address it because it’s one of the main entrances into the town.

“It’s stunning up there because you’ve got the views up to Pendle Hill and on a good day as far as Blackpool and to the Yorkshire Dales.
"The views up there are absolutely stunning and to be confronted with that eyesore, it just needs addressing.”
Commenting on the Facebook post, Cllr Aziz said the issue was taken up with the Environmental Department and they were trying to get a resolution as soon as possible.
However, the post also claimed the mess had been at the site for around six months with nothing being done to address it, and Cllr Aziz called for faster action to be taken in instances such as this.
He said: “We’re reporting it and we’re just being told that it’s being dealt with. Six months is too long. It’s been an ongoing case.
“From our perspective, we can keep on reporting and ask for a speedy resolution and that’s for the council to respond to.
"If the Conservative coalition can’t do it then they should step aside.

“They talk about being tough on fly tipping but in actuality you’ve got instances like this going on for six months.”
Cllr Aziz said he and the other councillor for the Netherton ward, Jodi Clements, as well as Labour’s Rishton councillor Kate Walsh, had been inundated with messages from residents about the fly tipping.
However, he assured residents the issue will soon be dealt with by the environmental health department.
