Police have seized three knives in Burnley as a nationwide knife crime campaign continues.
Officers from Burnley shared an image of three knives that they have seized in the town.
This is thanks to Operation Sceptre, a national week of intense action to help raise awareness of the dangers of knife crime and the work being done to stop it.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers from Burnley West neighbourhood policing team have seized these items as part of a week of action for our national operation sceptre campaign.
“During the week of action we highlight the work we do around knife crime but continue to do so throughout the year.”
As well as the three knives, police have also conducted a test purchasing operation, with the help of police cadets, for knives in the Burnley, Hyndburn and Rossendale area.
This was done in partnership with Lancashire Trading Standards. A number of stores, which have not been named, were visited by cadets with the majority passing the test.
Two shops failed and will face joint action from police and Trading Standards.
From Monday, May 15, officers from Lancashire Police have joined other forces across the UK in the intensive action to tackle knife crime.
The operation targets those who choose to carry dangerous weapons, raises awareness of the consequences and engages with retailers who sell bladed articles.
Officers will be working with partner agencies to carry out several initiatives throughout the week, including school visits to educate young people, searching for knives in public places such as local parks, using metal detecting arches to identify people who may be carrying knives and giving advice to shops on the laws on selling knives.
