The family of a popular Blackpool father-of-two stabbed to death at the weekend have paid tribute to their "best friend".

Greg Chamberlain, 26, was stabbed in the kitchen at his home on Preston Old Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Family and friends, including his mum, dad and brother, have now left more than 200 messages on social networking website Facebook, paying tribute to Mr Chamberlain and sharing fond memories of his life.

Garry Chamberlain, Greg's dad, thanked people of their kind wishes: "Greg was, along with my other two sons, my best friend and the best son anyone could want.

"Thank you all for being my son's friends, it has made me smile and cry. No one can take him away from me, and when the time is right we can all meet and share our love and celebrate his life as he would have wished."

Mum Maggie added: "I want to thank everyone for making me laugh at such a sad time. I cannot begin to explain how I feel having had my boy taken from me, but I am very proud and am blessed to have had him for 26 years.

"I'm trying so hard to keep focused on all the good memories and knowing he lives on in his beautiful sons."

Mr Chamberlain leaves behind two children, Harvey and Callum.

Heather Chapman, Greg's ex-partner and Harvey's mum, said: "You will always be in our hearts and we will never forget you. You were cruelly taken from them but Harvey knows you're an angel and anytime he needs to talk to you he knows you can hear him.

"Be proud of your boys, they are your greatest achievement."

A 21-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on police bail.

Det Supt Kevin Toole, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are not looking for anyone else in connection with Mr Chamberlain's death.

"The inquiry will continue while we try to resolve the legal complexities surrounding the case and discuss the investigation with the Crown Prosecution Service."

A six-day candlelit vigil will be held from today for Mr Chamberlain at St Christopher's Church on Hawes Side Lane, Marton.

Family and friends are also holding a concert on Saturday night at the Raikes Hotel on Liverpool Road, Blackpool, to raise money for a trust fund for his two children, starting at 7pm.
