More than 150 dog owners entered their four-legged friends into the Royal Dog Show at the Dog Inn at Belthorn over the bank holiday weekend.
Nic Machell, owner of Muddy Paws Dog Grooming and manager at the Dog Inn, hosted the annual dog show with a royal theme to celebrate the King’s coronation in style.
The contest took place from 11am to 1pm on Monday (May 8), and eleven adorable pooches were crowned winners of different categories.
Despite the typical British weather, the rain didn’t spoil the show and lots of people huddled under the outdoor marquee to enjoy the event.
On Monday competition judge, Nic said: “We had an absolutely fantastic turnout at our dog show today - it was lovely to see all your furry friends. Despite the gloomy weather we had well over 150 entries!
“The competition was fierce with lots of deserving prince and princesses, but the results are in and we have our special pack of winners. King Ollie took our Overall Champion title, with Axel our Reserve Champion.
“It was incredible to see so many dogs they were queuing down the village to enter!”
Other categories included prettiest princess and most handsome prince, Waggiest of Tails, Musical Sit, Dog's Got Talent, Best Veteran, Dog Most Like its Handler, Best Child Handler, Silkiest Ears and the Best Royal Themed Fancy Dress.
A spokesperson for The Dog Inn said: “What a fantastic weekend. Thank you for all your support.
“A big thanks to everyone who attended, to Nic who did a great job judging, to everyone who helped, and the village committee for the bacon butties.”
