A father-of-two is set to embark on a charity walk in aid of the East Lancashire Hospice.
In 2022, Rizwan Akhtar organised the ‘Walk with Courage’ to raise money for Hospice dedicated to his uncle Zak.
Last year, the family raised £1,886 by taking part in the walk which began from their Clitheroe shop on Moor Lane and ended at the East Lancashire Hospice in Blackburn.
This year Rizwan is taking part in the 12-mile (20km) walk again.
Along the journey, Rizwan’s wife Fozia will join him for the final 6km walk, and two nieces Tasmiya and Urushiha will join the couple with the 4km to go.
You can donate directly to Rizwan on his Walk With Courage page here.
Rizwan is being supported by his family as he aims to raise as much money as possible for the East Lancs Hospice
Rizwan will also receive support from his two daughters Arissa, 9, and Hooriya, 13 who will celebrate his walk by wearing the T-shirts and holding buckets.
Rizwan said: “My daughters will accompany me for the final two kilometres from Darwen Street Bridge to the hospice on Park Lee Road in Blackburn.
“I am hoping to get lots of support again from people and passers by like we did last year.
“People were really supportive and generous.”
Rizwan and his family are taking part in the walk on Saturday May 28.
