A woman from Burnley whose boyfriend died following a one-punch attack is raising money to mark a year since the tragic incident.

On August 12 2022, Jack Jermy-Doyle, 25, was assaulted on the junction of Harris Street and Birley Street in Preston at approximately 2.40am following a fight with two men.

He was taken to hospital but died on Sunday August 14.

His girlfriend, Kaitlyn Booth, has now set up a Go Fund Me page as she prepares to take on a Tough Mudder on the anniversary of the senseless assault.

She said: “My beautiful Jack was punched and his whole life was taken from him. All it took was ONE punch.

“Jack had so much more to offer this world, but everything was cruelly taken away from him. The love of my life was gone in the blink of an eye.

“On the 12th of August 2023, I will be doing Tough Mudder in memory of Jack, something that we wanted to do together but sadly never can.

“My goal for this page is to raise money for the charity One Punch UK but most importantly I want to raise awareness of the severity that one punch can do. So please, if you can’t donate, share and help raise awareness.

“One Punch Can Kill.

“This is in honour of Jack Jermy-Doyle and all of the other beautiful souls taken too soon from this extremely careless act.”

Following the incident, two men - aged 21 and 28 from Preston - were arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding but were released on police bail while enquiries continued.

In a tribute Jack’s family said: “No words can describe the utter devastation we as a family are feeling.

"Jack was a funny, charismatic, amazing young man who had so much to offer this world and we are truly broken that he has been taken from us so soon.

"He will forever be in our hearts and thoughts.”

Kaitlyn set a fundraising target of £2,000 and at the time of writing it had amassed £2,035.
