Blackburn actress Helen Flanagan is set to face a critter-filled trial tonight (May 4) as I’m a Celebrity… South Africa returns to our screens.
ITV producers have shared a clip of the former Westholme School pupil screaming and being covered in bugs.
Helen and Paul Burrell can be seen taking part in an escape room-style challenge. In the clip they are clawing through black gunge in order to find a lock combination.
In the video Helen can be seen panicking after inputing an incorrect code, saying: “No guys, it’s not working!”.
They need to race to work their way through a potting shed, bobbing boxes, a wishing well and compost tunnels. Inside each, they won’t be alone, as they battle to escape in the quickest time.
But what nasties await them in the different areas? And can they keep their cool under the pressure.
32-year-old Helen, who appeared on the show in 2012 and entertained audiences with due to her often squeamish reactions, put herself forward for the challenge.
She said: “I want to do it. I’ll give it 100 per cent, guys."
Explaining her reasoning for volunteering, Helen says in the Bush Telegraph: “For me personally, I wanted to come back here and I wanted to be able to do the Trials a lot better than I did last time… you change so much in 10 years.”
Fellow campmate and former Eastenders star Dean Gaffney said: “I didn’t get to choose who did the Trial today.
“Helen told me she’s doing the trial today. On her journey in the original camp you’d never see her stand up and say, ‘I want to do it.’ Helen’s got this.”
Joe Swash admits to camp: “I think they’re both wildcards.”
Before entering the show Helen, who finished in seventh place the first time around, said: “I am not saying I am going to go in and be a jungle warrior and be absolutely amazing because I will not.
“Yes, I will be scared but I will have a go and I will be a lot better than last time.”
I’m a Celebrity… South Africa airs tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX
