An inter-faith worker and community activist has spoken of the untold suffering of the people of Yemen following a visit to the country.
Nadeem Ashfaq who helps to run the Preston based Light Foundation raised £17,619 towards the Action For Humanity charity appeal. This was then distributed in the country which has been ravaged by war.
He said: “There are insufficient words to describe the severity of what is happening in Yemen. Our brothers and sisters will need our love, support, and care for many, many years to come, and, importantly, a raised awareness of their plight.
“I leave Yemen with part of me still there, and in awe of the strength of faith of those we have helped serve.
"I leave Yemen full of hope, confidence, and extremely pleased, knowing that so many of you have helped enormously in ways that are unfathomable to the human mind.
“I also leave confident knowing that the excellent, Action For Humanity, has a team of professional, organised, and efficient people working on the ground in Yemen, carrying on this noble and precious work on your behalf.
"Your donations are still welcome.
“Your donations fed the hungry, gave drink to the thirsty, provided hope to the hopeless, welcomed the destitute, and most importantly, put smiles of joy and happiness onto the faces of people.
"There are hundreds of people in Yemen right now, praying for us."
Nadeem Ashfaq was visiting Yemen to see the work of the Action For Humanity charity.
He added: “I thank you from the depths of my heart for placing your trust in me.
"I thank you for considering me as your means, as your distributor, and as your connection to those poor and forgotten about people, living in the worst humanitarian crisis to ever descend on planet earth.”
