A man has been arrested and charged after reportedly being found with a 16 inch machete.

Police received a report from the public that there was a man with a knife on a train from Preston to Blackpool.

The British Transport Police conducted a stop and search at Blackpool North railway station.

A man was reportedly found with a 16 inch machete in his waistband. He was arrested and charged and is awaiting a court date, with bail conditioned.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “A passenger dialled 999 to alert us to a male with a knife on a train from Preston to Blackpool.

“We met the service at Blackpool North and a stop and search was conducted.

“A male found with a 16” machete (10” blade) in his waistband. He was arrested and charged to court, with bail conditions.”
