Blackburn actress Helen Flanagan is to take on the ‘highest trial ever’ in the history of the show, when I’m A Celebrity… South Africa returns to our screens tonight (May 1).
The former Westholme School pupil and fellow campmates Amir Khan and Myleen Klass are taking part in the ‘World’s End’ challenge, which sees them climb a tower suspended over the edge of a mountain that is 1,100 metres high.
Before leaving camp campmate Georgia Toffolo had some honest words for Helen, who infamously refused to do trials when she first appeared on the TV show in 2012.
She said to the former Coronation Street actress: “You’ve got to do better this time. Sorry to be savage, but you have to.”
Coronation Street actor Andy Whyment said: “Just remember, if you come back with no stars, Janice [Dickinson] will rip your head off.”
When asked how she was feeling about the trial Helen shocked hosts, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, when she said: “I am really scared but guys but I’m not going to let you down, I’m going to do it.”
“What, who is this woman?” said Ant.
Dec said: “Who are you and what have you done with Helen Flanagan?”
A nervous Amir said: “Camp’s been eating well… we have to get through this. We’ve got a strong team today. We’re going to make sure we have another feast tonight.”
Helen, best known for playing Rosie Webster in the ITV soap Coronation Street, is regarded by many as one of the most memorable contestants to have appeared on the show.
Helen was voted to take part in her fair share of bushtucker trials due to her often squeamish reaction, which entertained audiences.
Before taking part in the show Helen, who finished in seventh place the first time around, said: “I am not saying I am going to go in and be a jungle warrior and be absolutely amazing because I will not.
“Yes, I will be scared but I will have a go and I will be a lot better than last time.”
You can see how many stars the campmates secure in the trial by watching I'm A Celebrity... South Africa, which airs tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
