A man from Blackburn who has been described as an ‘amazing son’ and ‘thoughtful person’ has died following a cancer battle.
Elliott Simpson was diagnosed with stage four malignant melanoma at the end of 2020 and his family and loved ones have been fundraising for treatment.
He lost his life to stage four malignant melanoma on Friday, April 28 aged 27.
His family said he ‘never stopped hoping’ and even in his last hour, he was telling his family he loved them and thanked the nurses.
In a tribute to Elliott, his family wrote: “It is with a broken heart that we have to tell you that Elliott lost his battle today. Words cannot express the loss we are feeling.
“Elliott never stopped hoping. Neither did we. He was always amazed when donations came in to his fundraising, often from people he never knew.
“He was just the most wonderful, caring, gently thoughtful person he never complained, he just loved life and all who were part of his life.
“Thank you for your donations. We will continue to support Elliott’s family, and going forward will continue to raise the profile of this evil disease.
“Thank you for everything you have done - you have made a difference. The fight continues. Xxx”
Writing on Facebook, Elliott’s mum Sonia said: “Today, we said goodbye to our amazing Elliott Simpson, the most amazing son.
“He never stopped smiling, he never stopped being kind, he never stopping loving and we never stopped hoping.
“For those of you who know Elliott it will not surprise you that even today In his final hour he was telling us he loved us and thanking the amazing nurses.
“This is Elliott and he will always be in our hearts and always with us.”
