The owner of a dog grooming service is hosting a ‘royal dog show’ at the Dog Inn at Belthorn over the coming Coronation bank holiday weekend.
Organisers of the community event are scouting for the prettiest prince and princess pets to participate in the contest, taking place from 11am to 1pm on Monday, May 8.
Nic Machell, owner of Muddy Paws Dog Grooming and manager at the Dog Inn, hosted a dog show at the pub last year which was hailed a success, and is excited to judge this year’s dog show.
There will be a category for the prettiest princess and most handsome prince, as well as contests for the ‘Waggiest of Tails’, Musical Sit, ‘Dog’s Got Talent’, Best Veteran (for dogs over seven years old), Dog Most Like its Handler, Best Child Handler, Silkiest Ears, and the Best Royal Themed Fancy Dress.
Entry cost £1 per class and will be taken on the day, and there is no restriction on how many classes to enter. There will be a prize for the winner of each class with rosettes up to sixth place.
Bacon sandwiches and drinks will be provided from 10.30am and the restaurant will be open and serving food, including a pizza menu, from 12pm.
Nic said: “We are very excited to be holding our popular dog show again at The Dog Inn and we are thrilled about the response we have had already on social media.
“Weather permitting, we are going to hold it on the field at the back of the pub. So get those pooches show ready to strut their stuff in the ring.”
