An extra pint proved costly for a football fan.
Blackburn magistrates heard Daniel Arrowsmith had two pints at the match on April 1 before meeting his girlfriend and having another pint.
He was stopped by police and gave a breathalyser reading of 43mcg per 100ml of breath against the legal limit of 35.
“It was the extra pint which pushed him just over the limit,” said Kimberley Morton, defending.
Arrowsmith, 36, of Grasmere Street, Burnley, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. He was fined £461 with £85 costs and £184 victim surcharge.
Tess Kenyon, prosecuting, said Arrowsmith was stopped at 12.40 am in Burnley town centre after police saw a car being driven erratically and go through a red light.
Miss Morton said her client didn’t recall going through a red light but did remember the car behind him which turned out to be an unmarked police car.
“He apologises for this error of judgement,” she added.
