Blackburn The Apprentice star, Camilla Ainsworth, is to appear as a VIP guest at a charity boxing match in Accrington.

Camilla, who was a finalist on The Apprentice, is set to appear at the black tie boxing event hosted by Clayton Amateur Boxing Club.

The event, set to take place on Friday, October 6, at Accrington Stanley’s 1968 lounge, will raise funds for the Accrington Stanley Women’s mini bus fund.

The 27-year-old is no stranger to boxing. ‘Killa Camilla won her first boxing match earlier this month, at a venue in Cheshire.

Camilla said the actual fight, against opponent Sinead McKenna, went really well adding that she “dominated” all three rounds – thankfully it wasn’t as bloody as the marathon she ran in 2022 when her toes started bleeding.

At the event a live auction take place, with the money raised to be split between the club and the Accrington Stanley Women mini bus fund.

Stanley Women are looking to raise £35,000 for a mini bus to provide transport to their away games.

The boxing event is one of many initiatives which Accrington Stanley Women are running as part of their fundraising campaign, including a crossbar challenge at Accrington Stanley Women's historic match again The Isle of Man National Women's Team at The Wham Stadium in April.

John Brindle, head coach and volunteer at Clayton Amateur Boxing Club, said: "We are looking forward to hosting another knock-out boxing event in Accrington Stanley's hospitality lounge.

“We have hosted some fantastic events here already and we are going bigger and better than ever for this one.

"I would like to thank Andy Holt and Accrington Stanley Football Club for all their support, and I would advise anyone looking to attend the event to get their tickets early because if our previous events are anything to go by, they are going to sell out very quickly."

Sami Smithson, chair of Accrington Stanley Women, said: "We are incredibly excited to be part of this event and to have Camilla Ainsworth attending as a VIP guest.

“She is an inspirational sports woman who has proved that the transferable skills you gain in sport can be applied successfully in the business world.

“I am sure many young people look up to Camilla as a fantastic role model.

"We are also honoured that Clayton ABC are also using the event  in conjunction with AmazingAccrington to split the contributions to support our mini bus fundraising campaign.

“We are looking to raise £35,000 by the end of the year and this will go a long way to supporting that."

Camilla said: “It is great to fly the flag for my home town again. I love doing things to support the local area.

“I think it this boxing event is an amazing thing for the club and  Accrington Stanley Women

“I am so excited for it – it is in the diary and I want to do more events like this to raise awareness for boxing - it would be great if more young people tried boxing as it is a great sport.”
