Full approval has been granted to change a piece of agricultural land into equine use and create an outdoor riding arena.
Mr and Mrs Humphreys of Tunstead Farm, Colne Road, Kelbrook, applied to Pendle Council for a change of use and to build the riding arena in January.
The riding arena will measure 20m x 30m and will contain silica sand and have a fibre surface and will be for private use only.
A planning statement says that the Humphreys bought the farm in March last year as it had ample space for their three horses, which were previously kept in a livery but now graze on the farm land.
However, they are having to travel some 20 miles to a riding school to pay to exercise them which is why they applied to build a riding arena.
The site lies north west of the farmhouse and south east of the existing building and has been chosen for its accessibility and privacy.
The planning statement reads: “There is minimal impact to the local landscape as a result of these proposals.
“There will be no increased traffic flow to the site as the outdoor riding arena is for private use only.
“In order to minimise light pollution battery powered temporary flood lights have been proposed as an alternative to permanent lighting which will be removed when not in use.”
The structure will be unnoticeable from the main road and neighbours have been made aware of the proposals.
The application was approved on April 18.
