Bilash Indian Takeaway, Darwen
First up is Darwen-based Bilash, which has a score of four out of five stars on TripAdvisor based on 35 reviews.
The takeaway operates from 4.45pm to 11.30pm every day and offers the usual array of curries and side dishes, as well as wraps, peri-peri and English dishes.
One review left for Bilash said the staff were “lovely and polite” while another said “my cousin reckoned it was the best jalfrezi and korma they had, we will definitely be back. All in all, extremely pleased.”
Bilash ranks 44th out of 68 restaurants in Darwen on TripAdvisor and scores five out of five for both food and value.
Thira Restaurant, Blackburn
Thira on St Peter Street in Blackburn is next on our list and comes in with a score of 4.5 on TripAdvisor based on a massive 367 reviews.
They are open for both lunchtime and dinner sittings and operate both sit-in dining and takeaways to cater for all diners.
One reviewer said of the restaurant: “The food and service is excellent. Best Indian food I have tasted in years. Will be back soon for another visit. Highly recommend.”

Another said: “Great service, amazing food. We created our own tasting menu so we could try as many dishes as possible. All of them delicious. Go there!”
Thira features on TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice list for 2022 and ranks fourth out of 142 restaurants in Blackburn, scoring five stars for its food and value.
The Balti House, Rishton
This restaurant and takeaway on Rishton High Street scores an impressive four stars according to TripAdvisor’s reviews.
They are open from 5pm until midnight (2am on Fridays and Saturdays) and again offer both sit-down meals and takeaway options.
This restaurant uniquely shares videos of them preparing the food on social media so customers can be sure that what they’re getting is fresh and well-prepared.
One reviewer said: “The food is freshly prepared, high quality and delicious. The restaurant and takeaway share videos of them preparing the food on social media and it’s all made fresh and from scratch for each individual order. Absolutely incredible.”
The Balti House ranks 40th out of 142 restaurants in Blackburn, with TripAdvisor scoring it 4.5 stars in food, service, value, and atmosphere.
Haweli Indian Cuisine, Blackburn
Next up on our list is another high-scoring Blackburn eatery in Hiweli, which has a rating of 4.5 stars based on 62 reviews and also features in the Travellers’ Choice list for 2022.
One reviewer who ordered a takeaway said: “So tasty that I told my wife and we booked to go back to the restaurant for a meal out.”

Of the 62 reviews, 52 rated the place as excellent and a further six said it was very good, with TripAdvisor scoring it five stars for food and service and 4.5 for value.
Raj Mahal, Darwen
The final place on our list is another Darwen takeaway – Raj Mahal based on Blackburn Road.
Raj Mahal scores four stars based on the 24 reviews left on TripAdvisor and ranks 32nd out of 68 restaurants in Darwen – fifth out of 11 specifically for Indian food.
Again, it offers both sit-in and takeaway meals and one reviewer said it was the “best curry house in Darwen” having tried every one in the town.
Another said: “We’ve tried this place twice and can’t fault it, really tasty food, delivery on time and everything correct. Will be using again.”
Raj Mahal has 17 ‘excellent’ reviews and scored top marks for its food, service, and value.
