Food hygiene inspectors have rated four eateries in Blackburn with Darwen in the latest round of inspections, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.
Examining food handling, the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and management of food safety, inspectors have rated one venue a four out of five rating, another a three out of five rating, while another scored a two out of five rating and one eatery a one out of five rating.
Calypso Caribbean Restaurant, based at The Wharf Inn in Eanam, Blackburn, was handed the four star rating after an assessment on March 9.
The inspection report on the Food Standards Agency’s website shows inspectors rated both the hygienic food handling and the management of food safety good whilst the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building was rated generally satisfactory.
Lahore Qila, in Whalley New Road, Blackburn, was handed a three-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 10.
The inspection report states the restaurant, which serves curries, kebabs and more, is generally satisfactory in all areas.
Hamza Takeaway, in Queens Park Road, Blackburn was given a score of two on March 12.
The takeaway's inspection report states both the management of food safety and the hygienic food handling are generally satisfactory whilst improvement is necessary for the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building.
Finally, Miami Chicken & Pizza, a takeaway in Darwen Street, Blackburn was given a score of one on March 9.
The inspection report states improvement is necessary for both the hygienic food handling and the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building whilst major improvement is necessary for the management of food safety.
It means that of Blackburn with Darwen's 202 takeaways with ratings, 111 (55 per cent) have ratings of five, and just one has a zero rating.
