FRIENDS and family of a music lover killed in a horrific car crash handed over 300 signatures to the Lancashire Telegraph's Wasted Lives campaign petition.
Last night the group also presented the Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital, Pendlebury with the final sum of money raised in memory of 23-year-old Ashley Connell.
Ashley, of Knowsley Road, Wilpshire, died of multiple injuries when he was thrown from the front seat through the window of a Honda Civic Type R being driven by a friend in April 2007.
The four survivors were taken to hospital by helicopter and it was decided to raise funds for the North West Air Ambulance as a tribute to Ashley.
Cash has also been collected for the Pen-dlebury hospital, where Ashley was treated as a child.
A cheque for £3,392 was handed over to the hospital by Ann Hollings, whose son Julian was in the crash.
Mrs Hollings said: "We would like to say a huge thank you to all of Ashley's friends who have supported us and his family through this difficult time and who have helped to promote all the fundraising events."
Wasted Lives is aimed at cutting the carnage caused by drivers under 25 and is seeking a number of education and legal reforms.
