Residents on a Blackpool street have been praised by police after their help enabled them to turf out people at a crack house'.

The property, in Elizabeth Court, was being used for drug activity, leading police to apply to the courts to evict those living at the address.

The closure order was issued by Blackpool Magistrates Court last week after locals approached officers with information about crack dealing at the address.

Subsequently police gathered evidence of drug use at the property during a raid, when Class A and Class C drugs were seized.

Drugs closure orders are served on properties where months of anti-social behaviour and the use and suspected dealing of Class A drugs has been taking place.

This action means the residents of the property cannot live there for up to six months.

PC Matt Langdon, said: "Without the dedicated work of Brunswick Neighbourhood Policing Team, in particular Police Community Support Officers Adam Morris, Dave Roberts and Andy Machin this closure would not have taken place."

PCSO Adam Morris said: "Residents were telling us that they were fed up of the number of callers to the address at all hours of the day and night.

"We hope this will provide a long term resolution for the local community and the neighbours who have suffered greatly as a result of the activity at this property.

"We are grateful to them for their help as well as Blackpool Coastal Housing, the landlords for their support.

"Their actions in coming forward and their willingness to do something positive about their neighbourhood, means we can use the powers that are available to us to help improve their quality of life."
