Blackburn Coronation Street star, Alex Bain, has reportedly split from his fiancée and is taking a break from social media.
Alex is reportedly taking a break from social media due to “personal life events”, following reports that his engagement to fiancée Mollie Lockwood has come to an end.
Several photos have also been removed from his official Instagram page, including pictures he took with Mollie.
In an Instagram story Alex reportedly wrote: “Due to recent personal life events, I will be taking a break from all forms of social media.
"I'm sure you can all understand. I will still be around however, because of certain numbers of comments made on the recent articles, and numerous other personal reasons, I will be stepping away for a while to work on myself and personal healing.
"For now, unless it's necessary for me to be here, I will be very absent for a while.
“Remember everyone: try to be kind to the people in the world, as under the surface no one knows everyone's own struggles.
"And to those who have messaged me personally: I have seen them and I thank you, from the bottom of my heart."
The 21-year-old, who has a four-year-old daughter with ex-girlfriend Levi Selby, announced his engagement to Mollie in October 2022 but officially popped the question in 2021.
The pair, who first started dating in 2019, told a national magazine that Alex asked the question while watching the sunset from the balcony in their room during a romantic night in Chester.
At the time Alex said: ”I can't spend my life with anyone else.
“That’s when I just asked her. I thought, ‘If I don’t do it now, I’ll keep getting more and more nervous!’ I was pretty certain she’d say yes, but I was still bricking it."
Alex plays Simon Barlow on Coronation Street, a role he has been playing since 2008.
The show’s producers have given Alex with many challenging and hard-hitting story lines over the years, including when the rogue teen became abusive towards his step-mum Leanne Battersby after she adopted him.
In 2011, Alex was awarded Best Young Performance at the British Soap Awards.
