Residents in Blackburn have been warned after 'suspicious individuals' were spotted knocking on doors asking for money.

Police said they had been contacted by people in the borough about begging and people knocking on doors.

A police spokesperson said: "We would like to reiterate to not answer the door to anyone unless you know who they are. Additionally, it would be beneficial to install cameras so you can monitor your home from any location.

"Unfortunately, many of these individuals are opportunists who prey on vulnerable people and take advantage of the kind nature of others."
