The organiser of a food and drink festival has thanked everyone involved in making the event a great success.

Gary Perkins, from Darwen Bars and Leisure, helped host Darwen Food and Drink Festival which took place in the town square on Easter Sunday and bank holiday Monday.

Gary and his business partner Kriston McGrath are delighted with the turnout at the event which has just been held for a second year.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Gary said: “We were amazed by the turnout on Sunday and Monday – there was definitely more people than last year.

“Absolutely buzzing, I love everything about the town. I just love everything about the support from the people in this town.

“I want to thank all our sponsors because without them, there is no way we could run the event.

“I must thank Kriston for all his hard work – he has been amazing.

“I also want to thank all the food stalls and all the artisan market stall holders.

“We got feedback last year and some people asked us to make things better and I think we have done that this year.

“So far, all the feedback has been positive. We are already looking forward to doing it all again next year and it will be bigger and better again.”

There was a huge number of food stalls with cuisines from all across the world including churros, Greek food, pizzas, and more.

There was also live music from local solo artists and bands.

Unfortunately, the event had to come to an early end on Monday due to the rain, but Gary said he was still pleased by the turnout.

Plans are already under way for the event next year over the Easter weekend, with Gary hoping it will become a must-go to event in the town.

The food festival joins a bill of events that bring people from across the county to Darwen each year, including the hugely popular Darwen Live which is planned for May 27 and 28.
